Coming Up...

I wanted to prepare you all for what's coming up. Every first Tuesday of the month we are going to do a Teaser Tuesday. The rule is you open up a book you are currently reading (that is not our book of the month) or a book you have already read, to a random page and post a couple of sentences or small paragraph on the blog with the title and author name and page number as well. What this will hopefully do is get each other interested in different books. I am totally borrowing this idea from another book group blog, so all the praise goes to http://exclusivebooks.blogspot.com I am loving her blog and may use some of her other ideas. She also finds discussion questions from book review sites and posts them as well. Another good idea! Here is an example of Teaser Tuesday that I found on her blog:

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:
Grab your current read.
Let the book fall open to a random page.
Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
Please avoid spoilers

I could hardly grasp the idea of being imprisoned between life and death for thirty years. Everyone he knew would have aged. Many would have died.

Magic Under Glass by Jaclyn Dolamore Pg 67

Since there are several of us as authors on this blog you can put your name in the title of your post, for example, "Liz's Teaser Tuesday" though at the bottom of your post it does say who posted it, but if you want to make it absolutely clear and easier for others to figure out then go for it. :)

Also, I want everyone to visit the above mentioned blog, she has really good ideas, and since I am new at this I am using her blog as a template. You can all post things on here whenever. Like if you have a book recommendation or want to do a review on something you read, and posting a picture of said book is always helpful. Just do a Google image search.

Feel free to also post comments or questions about the book we are currently reading. I want us all to have an active part in this. This is a way to help draw us closer together as sisters while sharing our love of books, and it's such a fun way of doing so. :)

Anne of Green Gables

Welcome to Slightly Bookish! Our book for this month will be Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. We will be meeting at Debby Mitchell's house on August 17th @ 7pm So mark the date on your calendar, and check the book out from the library, borrow from a friend, or buy the book if you think it will be one you'll want for your own library.

I absolutely adore the movie, and, I know it is shocking (with me being a bookworm and all) but I have never read this book! I know, I know, hard to believe. That is why I am so excited about reading it. And if you are wondering about my choice of background theme and text color for the blog at the moment, well, I have the green for Green Gables, the ivy adds a nice touch of nature, and the orange is due to Gilbert's term of endearment for Anne; carrots! Gotta love that one.

Anyway, I will be changing the background each month to try and match it with the theme of the book we will be reading. Pretty awesome, huh? I thought it would be fun and that way you won't be looking at the same old boring background. And you'll never know what I'll have in store for you. :)

So, get a copy of the book if you can and get to reading! :)
