"Ignore them and they'll stop bothering you, " my mom and the counselor said. So that's what I tried to do. Everytime Dara, Kat, or any of their friends abused me, instead of fighting back and sticking up for my rights, I responded with a verbal comeback, or I acted as if they weren't there. The more I showed how "mature" I could be, the more determined they were to get my goat. What had started out as a simple payback for being a tattle tale had mutated into something far more serious.
